An incident that has shocked the local community occurred in the small town of Corbera de Llobregat, located near Barcelona. A 45-year-old man was taken into custody after his wife sought help, reporting prolonged domestic abuse and claiming she had been unable to leave their apartment for four months.
The woman, who lived with her husband, decided to reach out to the city’s social services. She sent a message to the official email address, describing her situation and asking for advice. In her correspondence, she reported being subjected to abuse by her partner and said she was effectively deprived of her freedom of movement.
However, contact with the woman was suddenly lost. Concerned by the abrupt silence, social service staff decided to immediately notify the police. Local and municipal police officers became involved and went to the family’s address.
At the scene, officers were able to speak with the victim. She gave a detailed account of the situation: for four months, she had been unable to leave the home, as her husband monitored her every move and did not allow her to leave the apartment. She also described regular acts of violence by her husband.
After gathering all the necessary information and verifying the woman’s account, law enforcement decided to detain the man. He was charged under two articles: domestic violence and unlawful deprivation of liberty. The arrest took place on November 18, a few days after the victim’s initial report.
The case sparked widespread public outcry in the region. Residents of Corbera and neighboring towns are discussing the incident, expressing their support for the victim and calling for stricter measures against domestic violence. Authorities in Catalonia emphasize the importance of timely response to such reports and urge anyone facing threats not to hesitate to seek help.
