BMW has officially announced the release of the iX3 electric vehicle, which will be the first in the new “Neue Klasse” lineup. The model will premiere at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, with European sales slated to begin in spring 2026. The model will arrive in the US in summer of the same year, and a separate version will be produced for the Chinese market, with deliveries there also starting in summer.
Prices for the car in Europe will start at 60,000 euros. Production is organized at the plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The model is classified as an SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) and is equipped with a fully electric engine generating 345 kW (469 hp). Its top speed reaches 210 km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
The main feature of the iX3 is its new 800V electric platform, which has reduced energy losses by 40%, cut weight by 10%, and lowered production costs by 20%. The design uses four high-performance processors that control charging, driving dynamics, the multimedia system, and driver assistance features, including autonomous elements. This architecture is expected to be used in 40 future models of the brand.
The built-in battery has a capacity of 108.7 kWh and supports fast charging at up to 400 kW, allowing about 370 km of range to be added in just 10 minutes. According to the WLTP cycle, the vehicle can travel up to 805 km on a single charge, and around 678 km on the highway. Both figures are still undergoing final certification.
The interior of the iX3 is designed for comfort and reflects modern trends. Dimensions are 4.78 meters long, 1.89 meters wide, and 1.63 meters high. The standard wheels are 20 inches, with 21- and 22-inch rims available as options. Buyers can choose from six body colors, including five metallic finishes.
The model offers M and M Pro packages that add sporty elements to the exterior and interior, such as glossy black trims, unique seats and steering wheel, as well as a dark interior finish. The cabin is minimalist, focusing on ergonomics and a sporty feel. The central panel combines the instrument and multimedia displays, while the flat-bottomed steering wheel with integrated buttons emphasizes dynamic character.
New features include an upgraded BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with two voices, an updated interface, and enhanced personalization options. The exterior features a dual-section kidney grille and redesigned headlight shapes at both the front and rear.
The luggage compartment capacity ranges from 520 to 1,750 liters with the rear seats folded, plus an additional compartment under the hood holds another 58 liters. This makes the BMW iX3 a blend of innovative technology, spaciousness, and high performance.
