October 4 will be a milestone date for Spanish aristocracy. On this day, Cayetano Martínez de Irujo and Bárbara Mirjan will tie the knot. The ceremony will take place at the Sevillian church of los Gitanos, a place especially revered by the late Duchess of Alba, while the festive banquet will be held at the Duke of Arjona’s estate, Las Arroyuelas. For a long time, the main intrigue was who would escort the groom to the altar. Initially, most assumed it would be his sister, Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, but the Duchess of Montoro personally denied these rumors. The secret has finally been revealed: the honor will go to Cayetano’s daughter, Amina Martínez de Irujo.
For father and daughter, this will undoubtedly be one of the most touching moments they will remember for the rest of their lives. Amina, always a very reserved young woman, has stayed in the background, maintaining a good relationship not only with her father but also with his chosen partner, Bárbara Mirjan. Born from Cayetano’s first marriage to Genoveva Casanova, she rarely appears at social gatherings—just like her twin brother Luis, who leads an entirely private life. Nevertheless, both maintain a close bond with their mother, who participated in a television project a few months ago.
The granddaughter of the Duchess of Alba is now fully focused on building her own career, as is evident from her LinkedIn profile. Just three months ago, Amina was pleased to announce she had earned a new certificate in financial and operational management of hotels and real estate. This certification, issued by the prestigious Cornell University in May, complements another qualification she obtained in November 2024 on commercial real estate development. This education is a perfect match for her bachelor’s degree in literature, language, culture, and communications, which she completed at the University of Warwick.
After that, she continued her studies at IE Business School, where from September 2022 to July 2023 she pursued a master’s program in business management. Throughout this period, she actively combined her education with internships at various companies, gaining practical experience.
Currently, Amina Martínez de Irujo works for Aman, a company specializing in the creation of luxury hotels. This international corporation operates properties in 36 locations across 20 countries. Living in London, Cayetano’s daughter is excitedly preparing for her father’s upcoming wedding. It is expected that other siblings, including Eugenia and Fernando Martínez de Irujo, will attend the ceremony. Fernando has made significant progress after a long recovery and, as recently reported, is preparing to undergo a course of radiation therapy.
