Ahead of the important Champions League match between Barcelona and Olympiacos, the president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta, addressed journalists. During the interaction, he touched on several current topics related to the team’s activities and its immediate plans.
Particular attention was drawn to the upcoming match against Villarreal, which is scheduled to take place in December in Miami. Despite dissatisfaction from the Madrid club, Laporta made it clear that Barcelona does not intend to change its plans. According to him, the club will continue preparations for the trip to the USA, and any statements from rivals will not affect the decision. He also noted that relations between the two clubs remain unchanged.
During the press conference, Laporta was asked about recent comments made by the Madrid team’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois. Laporta chose not to comment on this topic, limiting himself to a brief reply, saying he saw no need to discuss such statements.
Another topic was the situation with Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, who had been suspended. The president expressed confidence that the materials provided by the club would be reviewed and hopes for a reduction in the coach’s penalty. In his view, there are grounds to expect a reconsideration by the disciplinary authorities.
Thus, the management of Barcelona is taking a firm stance on key matters related to international matches and internal disputes in Spanish football. The club continues to adhere to its chosen strategy, despite external pressure and criticism from rivals.
