Dani Olmo will be unable to take part in the upcoming matches of the Spain national team against Georgia and Bulgaria. The reason is a calf muscle injury sustained during a morning training session. The team’s medical staff has confirmed that recovery will take some time, and the player will have to miss both games.
This came as an unexpected complication for the coaching staff. Olmo was considered one of the main candidates for the starting lineup in the upcoming match with Georgia. Despite not having the best start to the season at Barcelona, the midfielder enjoyed the trust of the national team’s head coach.
Olmo’s absence adds to the existing squad losses. It was previously announced that neither Nico nor Lamine would be available to join the team. As a result, three key players will miss the upcoming matches, which could impact the team’s tactical plans and lineup.
The working atmosphere remains within the squad. The players continue to prepare for the upcoming fixtures, paying special attention to details and team coordination. Team management emphasizes the importance of concentration and consistent effort to successfully navigate a challenging stage of qualification.
According to the official statement from the federation, Olmo will not be able to play either in Elche against Georgia or in Valladolid against Bulgaria. The player arrived at the national team’s camp showing signs of muscle fatigue, which had previously been reported by his club. Over the next few days, the midfielder’s condition gradually improved thanks to an individual recovery program and reduced training loads.
During today’s training session, it was planned that Olmo would participate in only part of the exercises. However, in the process, he once again felt discomfort in his left leg. After additional medical examinations, a muscle injury was diagnosed, and Barcelona’s medical staff was immediately notified.
In the near future, the player will begin a rehabilitation program at the national team base and will then return to Catalonia to continue his recovery. The rest of the squad will travel to Elche, where the next qualification match will take place.
