Queen Letizia Sends Subtle Message to Asturias During Visit to Spain’s Fire-Affected Regions

Un pequeño detalle en el look de la reina que dice mucho

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are visiting regions of Spain affected by summer wildfires. During the visit, the Queen made a subtle yet meaningful gesture of support for Asturias—which was not included in the official itinerary—by choosing an outfit from a local brand.

At the end of August, the royal couple of Spain resumed their official duties by visiting regions severely affected by wildfires this summer. King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia’s route passes through the most devastated areas of the country, including Zamora, León, Ourense, and Extremadura.

Although the Principality of Asturias, where several fires are still active—including one of the strongest of the season in San Antolín de Ibias—was not included in the official visit program, Queen Letizia found a way to show her support for the people of this region. She did so through her signature gesture—by carefully selecting her outfit.

For the trip, the queen chose a restrained and practical look: a simple white shirt, slim khaki trousers, and sturdy boots with thick soles. The only bright accent in this minimalist ensemble was a small red tag on the breast pocket of her shirt. Upon closer inspection, the brand name “IMILOA” was visible.

This choice was not accidental. “IMILOA” is a clothing brand founded 17 years ago in the Asturian city of Gijón. By wearing a shirt from this label, the queen sent a clear message of solidarity with Asturias, another region hit by the devastating fires.

It is worth noting that Queen Letizia is no stranger to using her style for communication and expressing support. Several months ago, after severe flooding in Valencia, she made multiple public appearances wearing clothes and jewelry by designers from that autonomous community.

It is also notable that this white shirt has been in the queen’s wardrobe since at least 2018. She first wore it on September 8 during the celebration of Asturias Day. By wearing it again, she not only reinforces her connection to the region but also demonstrates a commitment to sustainable fashion. This action once again proves that fashion can be more than just clothing—it can serve as a powerful tool for conveying important messages without words.
