This Saturday, the historic city of Toledo became the epicenter of Spain’s social life. The entire country’s attention was drawn to one of the year’s most significant events: the wedding of Lucía Entrecanales, daughter of the vice president of construction giant Acciona, and her longtime partner, entrepreneur Laszlo Bene. Their romantic and understated engagement, held last June among their closest loved ones, was just a prelude to a lavish celebration that brought together the cream of Spanish society.
Despite other high-profile weddings taking place on the same day—including the ceremony of Jaime Martínez-Bordiú in Madrid and the union of Selena Gomez in California—it was this event in Toledo that drew special attention. The 29-year-old Lucía is not just the heiress to an influential dynasty, but also a successful businesswoman who, together with her partner Eugenia Gil, founded the popular company “Popurri,” which organizes exclusive cultural events in the capital. Her husband, Laszlo Bene, comes from an aristocratic background and is building a career in sustainable development. With an outstanding education in international relations, politics, and economics, he now works at Dcycle, a company specializing in software development.
The couple chose a truly iconic venue for their exchange of vows: the church at the Tavera Hospital. This majestic temple, built in the 16th century on the outskirts of the city and managed by the Fundación Medinaceli, is a gem of Renaissance classicism. Its walls house works by the great El Greco, and its atmosphere has previously attracted famous couples. It was here in 2008 that Amelia Bono and Manuel Martos were married, followed two years later by Rafael Medina and Laura Vecino.
This time, the ancient basilica once again witnessed the union of high society representatives. A long list of distinguished guests from the worlds of big business and the jet set were expected. For example, at the wedding of Lucia’s sister, Isabel, well-known personalities such as Sassa de Osma and Christian of Hanover were spotted. As on that occasion, the bride was escorted to the altar by her father, Juan Ignacio Entrecanales, fulfilling the honorary role of father of the bride.
After the official ceremony, guests moved to the Estiviel family estate, located near Toledo and owned by the bride’s father. Surrounded by expansive gardens, the banquet and celebration took place, which, according to all predictions, lasted well into the night. Among the guests spotted were Inés Suelves and Valentina Suárez-Zuloaga. Naturally, the entire Entrecanales clan attended the festivities, including José Entrecanales, Claudia Ortiz’s husband, and Gonzalo Entrecanales with his wife, Mónica Oliart. The groom’s family was also present in full. László is the younger son of the Hungarian producer László Bene and the German aristocrat Katharina von Abensperg und Traun, and even has an interesting connection to the Swedish royal family through his uncle.
