The life of renowned Spanish TV host Joaquín Prat now resembles a roller coaster, with moments of professional triumph and personal happiness soon giving way to somber news. Recently, he was excitedly preparing to launch his new TV project “El Tiempo Justo” on Telecinco and planning his wedding to his beloved Alexia Pla Gabaldón. However, these bright plans were overshadowed by tragedy. The Prat family was plunged into mourning by the passing of Enrique Prat, Joaquín’s uncle and brother of his legendary father, who passed away three decades ago.
News of the family loss became public thanks to Joaquín’s sister, journalist Andrea Prat. She shared a heartfelt social media post dedicated to her beloved uncle. Andrea posted a series of family photos, accompanied by poignant words. For the main photo, she chose a moment from her wedding where her uncle is embracing her tightly, admitting she would forever cherish that moment in her heart. In her tribute, Andrea emphasized how much the family would miss Enrique and thanked him for countless happy moments shared together, calling him a truly special person in her life.
The special bond between niece and uncle was obvious to everyone. Andrea recalled that Enrique was one of the witnesses at her wedding to Jacobo Millán, which took place in Valencia on June 20, 2015. His role in the ceremony was highly symbolic. The journalist explained that choosing Valencia for the wedding was a tribute to her father, who was from this region. Judging by the published photos, Enrique also shared a close relationship with Andrea’s children—Mauro, Hugo, and Gala—often spending time with his great-niece and nephews.
This loss is felt even more deeply in light of a recent anniversary. Just a few months ago, Joaquín Prat publicly remembered his father on the 30th anniversary of his passing. At that time, the presenter posted a black-and-white photo of his parent, noting that it seemed as if it had happened only yesterday. He said that this is what we do with those we love deeply—we keep their memory alive every day. In that message, Joaquín described his famous father as someone who was always the first to join any celebration, said he was the most devoted husband, and a tireless worker. He also reflected on the values he inherited: respect for others, passion for what truly matters, and the ability to appreciate the little joys of life. Time passes, but memory lives on, and Joaquín still remembers the touch of his father’s beard, his scent, and his endless hugs, believing that he looks down on him from above with a smile and pride.
