Court ruling in housing squatting case
A court hearing in the capital of the Balearic Islands has concluded regarding illegal occupancy of an apartment and the installation of a large swimming pool on its terrace. The woman who occupied the property without permission was fined for two offenses. The court ordered her to pay a total of 8,000 euros. The apartment owner claims that the damages significantly exceed this amount.
Risks for residents and neighbors’ response
The situation escalated after a water tank with a capacity of 6,000 liters appeared on the roof of the building. Neighbors heard alarming noises and called the fire department. Emergency personnel arrived immediately and demanded that the water be drained right away to prevent a possible collapse. However, they were unable to resolve the issue of the illegal occupancy.
Financial and personal impact on the owner
The apartment owner continues to pay the bills, including water expenses. He reported receiving constant threats over the phone. According to him, the situation has become a source of significant stress, and relations with his neighbors have clearly worsened. Despite the court ruling, the woman asked to be allowed to stay in the apartment until the end of October, when the deadline for vacating the property expires.
