A major police operation has concluded in Madrid, resulting in the arrest of 13 individuals linked to the extremist group Suburbios Firm. Law enforcement officers conducted 11 searches at various locations, seizing not only weapons and drugs but also a substantial amount of cash.
During the raids, police discovered firearms, two bulletproof vests, tasers, dozens of knives, and about five kilograms of cocaine. In addition, more than €100,000 was seized from the suspects’ apartments and offices. The confiscated items included neo-Nazi paraphernalia and memorabilia associated with football ultras.
Suburbios Firm was originally formed in football stadium stands, but has long been banned from the ranks of official Atlético Madrid supporters. Nevertheless, the group’s members maintained ties with other radical factions, including Ultras Sur, known for their connections with Real Madrid. On social media, Suburbios Firm members have repeatedly posted photos with representatives of other ultras groups, including fans of Betis.
The operation, dubbed Rivilla, was the result of a lengthy investigation that began back in 2023. Investigators found that the group was involved in drug trafficking, using the proceeds to finance their activities and for personal gain. The main source of income was cocaine sales, which were distributed in entertainment venues and on the streets of southern Madrid.
The investigation revealed that the structure of Suburbios Firm was clearly organized under a single leader, known by the nickname “el Ratilla.” He was detained on his way to the airport as he was about to leave for his honeymoon. Following his arrest, three of those detained were remanded in custody by a court decision in Pozuelo de Alarcón.
During the raids, authorities found not only drugs and weapons but also specialized vehicles with hidden compartments for transporting illegal substances. Other seized drugs included hashish, ketamine, and crystalline substances, as well as more than fifty telescopic batons. Investigators paid particular attention to a large sum of cash found in possession of the group’s leadership.
Suburbios Firm’s activities were not confined to football stands. In 2021, group members took part in actions targeting LGBT communities and migrants, which was one of the reasons for increased police attention. The operation is part of a nationwide strategy to combat violent extremism.
