In 2025, Elche once again becomes a hub for history and art enthusiasts. The city is preparing to host its 30th festival, which promises to be one of the most notable events of the autumn. Organizers have chosen a symbolic name for the anniversary—“Celebratio”—highlighting three decades of cultural traditions linked to the legendary Misteri d’Elx.
From October 21 to November 9, the streets and iconic sites of the historic center will be filled with theatre, music, dance, exhibitions, and unique pyrotechnic shows. The festival program features more than thirty diverse events for visitors of all ages. A special highlight is the traditional medieval market, which will take place from November 6 to 9 around the Basílica de Santa María, Glorieta, and Plaza del Congreso Eucarístico. From 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., guests can browse crafts, sample period cuisine, enjoy street performances, and immerse themselves in a medieval atmosphere.
The theatre program promises a packed schedule: audiences can see “¡Gaudeamus! (El licenciado Vidriera)” by La Chana Teatro, “Guitón Onofre, el pícaro perdido” featuring Pepe Viyuela, as well as musical evenings with Luar na Lubre. Dance lovers can enjoy the performance “El poeta soldado” at Palacio de Altamira. The cultural center Las Clarisas will host a staging of the drama “La lengua en pedazos”, based on a dialogue between Saint Teresa and an inquisitor.
A special highlight in the schedule are the additional performances of Misteri d’Elx, which will take place on October 24, 25, and 31, as well as November 1 at the Basílica de Santa María. The culmination will be the pyrotechnic show “Celebratio” at Plaza de Traspalacio on November 1, and on November 8 the city center will be lit up by “Nit Màgica” from Xarxa Teatre — a night filled with fire, light, and music.
The festival once again affirms Elche’s status as one of the main cultural centers of the Valencian Community. The festivities will conclude with the bustling medieval market and street performances, cementing the event’s reputation as one of the most vibrant cultural highlights of the autumn.
