In Burriana, located in the province of Castellón, officers from the Civil Guard carried out a large-scale operation that led to the dismantling of a family group involved in distributing illegal substances. Five people were arrested during the raid—all relatives—including a minor who is just 17 years old.
The investigation revealed that the adult family members had set up a distribution point, operating almost non-stop out of a residential building. It was the constant flow of visitors and neighbors’ complaints about noise and suspicious activity that drew the authorities’ attention. After several months of surveillance and information gathering, police searched the house, which served as the criminal group’s base.
During the operation, one of the suspects tried to resist arrest, while another attempted to destroy evidence by throwing a bag containing a large amount of cocaine onto the roof of a neighboring building. However, the attempt was unsuccessful: a drone deployed during the operation recorded the act, and the drugs were seized.
During the search, officers discovered more than 100 grams of cocaine, nearly a hundred marijuana plants, a substantial amount of cash, a collection of jewelry, several luxury cars, as well as firearms and ammunition. Lottery tickets were also seized, which may indicate attempts to launder income.
Four adults implicated in the case have been taken into custody without bail. The teenager used to courier the drugs has been handed over to the juvenile prosecution office. The operation was the result of coordinated work among several police units, including canine teams and security specialists.
The investigation is ongoing, and it’s likely that new details about the family’s activities will emerge soon. Local residents hope that the neighborhood situation will improve noticeably now that the gang has been apprehended.
