This year, Torrejón de Ardoz once again becomes a haven for fans of ice art. From November 14 to January 6, the Parque Mágicas Navidades will host a large-scale event—the only international competition for ice sculptors in Spain. This year’s festival theme is heroes and villains, promising audiences a true visual adventure.
For several weeks, the park transforms into a giant ice workshop. Here, in temperatures as low as minus seven degrees, participants from around the globe—from Siberia to Argentina—will create sculptures inspired by movies, comics, and myths. Each duo receives 25 massive blocks of ice to work with, and over 100 tons of material are used in total. The exhibition space covers more than 2,000 square meters, allowing every visitor to feel part of a magical world.
International showdown of masters and cutting-edge technology
This year, ten teams from five continents will compete for the win. Among them are renowned stars of the ice scene, such as the Japanese artists Junichi Nakamura and Shinichi Sawamura, who will appear as special guests. The jury will evaluate the works based on several criteria—from technical complexity to artistic expression. Winners will receive substantial cash prizes, and visitors will get the chance to watch art take shape right before their eyes.
This year, special attention has been given to lighting. Renowned designer Juanjo Llorens has worked on creating the atmosphere, giving the ice sculptures unique shades that make them seem almost alive. For the first time in the festival’s history, artists are using colored ice, adding extra depth and vibrancy to the exhibition. Every evening, the sculptures transform under the lights, creating a magical feeling and transporting visitors into another world.
Ice museum and new experiences for the whole family
The festival is organized by the Productores de Sonrisas team, known for their spectacular shows. They promise visitors not only an exhibition but a full entertainment complex. In addition to the ice sculptures, guests can enjoy attractions, an ice rink, and a festive atmosphere. In past years, the festival attracted over 360,000 people, and this year similar interest is expected.
Tickets cost €18, with a 50% discount available on selected dates. Admission also gives access to all the park’s attractions. For families with children and anyone looking for something out of the ordinary, this is a great opportunity to spend a winter day surrounded by art and imagination.
The Ice Festival in Torrejón de Ardoz is more than just an exhibition—it’s an event where artistry, technology, and magic come together. Every year, organizers find new ways to wow the public, and 2025 will be no exception. If you’re looking for something special this winter, this festival is definitely worth your attention.
