An unusual public auction has been launched in Spain: a Ferrari FF and a Mercedes G 63, once owned by members of the drug trade, are up for sale. Both vehicles were seized as part of efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and are now seeking new owners. The starting price for each lot is just 150 euros, attracting significant interest among car enthusiasts and collectors.
The auction is organized by a government agency responsible for implementing the national anti-drug strategy. Bidding is already open and will close on Thursday, September 25. Anyone interested can try their luck and possibly become the owner of one of these prestigious vehicles at a price far below their market value.
These cars have been added to a special state fund for assets seized during investigations into drug trafficking and related crimes. The fund is managed by the Ministry of Health, and proceeds from the sales are allocated to support prevention programs, assistance, and social reintegration for individuals suffering from drug addiction.
Last year, more than 28 million euros were distributed from this fund. In recent months, similar auctions have featured not only vehicles, but also yachts, construction equipment, and real estate. Most of the proceeds are dedicated to reducing demand for illegal substances, while the remainder supports enhanced police and customs efforts to fight crime.
The appearance at auctions of cars such as the Ferrari FF and Mercedes G 63 highlights the scale of property seizures from criminal groups. For the state, this is not only a way to replenish the budget, but also an opportunity to support important social initiatives aimed at rehabilitating and integrating former drug addicts.
