The latest draw of the popular European Euromillones lottery, held on Tuesday, December 2, once again brought luck to a participant from Spain. This time, fortune favored a resident of Barcelona, who overnight became exactly one million euros richer. This special prize, drawn exclusively among Spanish players under the name “El Millón,” found its winner in the very heart of Catalonia.
The winning ticket was purchased at lottery administration No. 60, located at Paseo Fabra i Puig, 322. That is where the unique code WCF05005 was registered, bringing its owner the coveted prize. As is often the case, the winner’s identity remains unknown for now, but without a doubt, their life will drastically change after receiving such a significant sum.
While the main lottery jackpot went unclaimed this time and will continue to accumulate until the next draw, other Spanish players also enjoyed some pleasant surprises. Three third-prize wins (for matching 5 main numbers), each worth €12,966.26, went to Terrassa (Barcelona province), Alfarràs (Lleida province), and Amorebieta (Biscay province). Meanwhile, two lucky second-prize winners, each receiving €249,653.59, turned out to be residents of other participating European countries.
The winning combination for this Tuesday’s draw was: 04, 13, 14, 20, 41, and the “stars” 06 and 12. Since the jackpot was not claimed, it will become even more attractive to millions of participants across Europe for the next drawing on Friday.
How to participate
The Euromillones lottery is held twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday evenings, at 9:00 PM Spanish time. The rules are simple: each player selects 5 main numbers from 1 to 50, as well as 2 additional numbers, known as “stars,” from 1 to 12. To win the jackpot, you must match the entire combination. However, apart from the main prize, there are 12 additional prize categories, significantly increasing your chances of winning at least a small reward.
The minimum guaranteed jackpot is 17 million euros. If there is no winner for the draw, the sum rolls over to the next drawing and continues to grow. Since 2024, the maximum jackpot is capped at an impressive 250 million euros.
“El Millón”: Exclusive for Spain
One unique feature of the lottery for Spanish participants is the additional ‘El Millón’ draw. It is held alongside the main draw every Tuesday and Friday. With the purchase of each Euromillones ticket, the system automatically generates and assigns a unique alphanumeric code. During the draw, one of these codes is randomly selected as the winner, guaranteeing its holder a prize of 1 million euros. Notably, this prize is independent of the numbers matched in the main game, giving Spaniards an extra chance to become millionaires.
Incidentally, the history of Euromillones began on February 13, 2004, in Paris. Originally, it was a joint initiative between the national lotteries of just three countries: France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The main goal was to create a lottery with a massive shared prize pool, capable of attracting players from different countries. Over time, the project proved so successful that other countries joined in. Today, Euromillones is played in nine countries: Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, and Luxembourg.
Previously, we reported that Euromillones showered Spain with prizes once again, although the main jackpot that time went to a player in France. During that draw, two major prizes also went to winners in Spain, confirming Spain’s status as one of the luckiest participating countries in this popular European lottery.
