Renowned stand-up comedian Ruslan Bely, who has been living in Spain in recent years, shared his perspective on the possibility of returning to Russia. The performer, designated as a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice, noted that his attitude toward emigration has changed significantly.
At first, after moving abroad, Bely held on to hope that he would eventually be able to settle back in his homeland. However, over time, he says, that confidence faded. Now, he no longer sees any real opportunities to return to his former life in Russia and believes that his move marked a turning point for the whole family.
The comedian emphasized that adapting to a new country has not been easy for him. He admitted that relocating again would be an extremely difficult challenge. At the same time, Bely does not rule out visiting Russia for short periods, but he does not consider moving back permanently.
Moving to Spain was not just a personal milestone for Bely, but also a pivotal family event that changed the course of his family history. He believes that his lineage will now begin a new branch outside of Russia. According to the artist, such changes inevitably affect oneβs sense of self and outlook on the future.
In July last year, Bely also mentioned the existence of a private chat for those designated as foreign agents in Russia. This community helps emigrants stay connected and share their experiences of living abroad.
The prospect of returning home remains a closed topic for Bely. He emphasizes that he is not ready to go through the process of moving and adapting all over again. For him, Spain has become a new home, where he is building his life and career, despite all the challenges of emigration.
