Starting from November 12, 2025, Ryanair will implement a major change for all its customers: boarding passes will only be available in digital format through the official app. Paper tickets, which could previously be printed at home or collected at the airport, are being phased out. This update will affect all passengers, regardless of destination or ticket type.
The company says this move is aimed at making travel faster and more convenient. Now, after checking in online, the boarding pass will appear in the Ryanair app and will remain accessible even without an internet connection. This is especially helpful for those who often experience delays or schedule changes: all notifications about flight status, gate changes, and possible delays will be sent directly to the passenger’s phone.
Switching to digital boarding passes will also help reduce airport service costs and lower ticket prices for travelers. In addition, Ryanair highlights the environmental impact: eliminating paper boarding passes will save hundreds of tons of paper each year, benefiting the environment.
For those without a smartphone or tablet, it will still be possible to get a free boarding pass at the airport if they checked in online in advance. If a device is lost or runs out of battery, Ryanair staff will help passengers restore access to their boarding pass on the spot, even if security control has already been passed.
However, if a passenger has not checked in online in advance, they will have to pay an additional fee for airport counter check-in. Ryanair maintains traditional check-in desks at all airports, but encourages customers to use the mobile app to save time and money.
