In a suburb of Madrid, police shut down an illegal center where procedures were carried out using banned and expired drugs. The owner, who had no medical training, offered services at low prices, attracting a large number of clients.
The investigation began after citizens reported suspicious activity at a location disguised as a regular beauty salon. Law enforcement reviewed the establishment’s social media pages, where low-cost injections and procedures using botulinum toxin and fillers were actively advertised.
During an inspection on July 16, police found a large quantity of unregistered pharmaceuticals in a concealed cabinet behind a promotional display. These included vials of toxins and hyaluronic acid, as well as packages past their expiration date. All medications were stored without regard for sanitary regulations, creating a health risk for clients.
In a separate room, they found a suitcase filled with syringes, needles, and vials, some of which were already expired. Medical waste was not properly disposed of, and procedures were performed in conditions far below safety standards.
As a result of the operation, police seized all substances and equipment found. The woman who managed the salon has been detained on suspicion of illegal medical activity and violations of regulations regarding medicinal products. An investigation is ongoing concerning threats to public health.
