Where to Spend the Rest of the Summer in Madrid: Pool, Chicken, and Seafood

Madrid Secrets: CoolRooms, Yopo Club, and Corvina Mx Welcome Guests

Madrid still retains its summer vibe. A few unique places offer a chance to extend the season. In the city center, you’ll find pools, sandwiches, and Mexican seafood. Discover the best spots to relax in the capital.

In Spain’s capital, summer is gradually giving way to autumn, but warm days and a relaxed vibe still linger in the city. For those not ready to say goodbye to the holiday season, Madrid offers several spots where you can hold on to the feeling of August.

One such place is the courtyard of CoolRooms Palacio de Atocha hotel on Calle de Atocha, 34. Here, in a 19th-century building, there is a garden with a swimming pool open to the public. In the summer months, guests can purchase a day pass, which includes brunch or lunch with champagne and a cocktail. The pool is open from noon to 7 p.m., and prices start at €150 per person. The area is equipped with fans and awnings, and in winter, a glass structure covers the space so it can operate year-round.

The menu at El Patio de Atocha restaurant combines classic Madrid cuisine with modern recipes. Options include Olivier salad, roast pork, croquettes, and rice with oxtail. Breakfast is served on weekdays, while brunches are available on weekends and holidays.

In the Malasaña district, Yopo Club on Calle San Andrés, 38, stands out. This small establishment features a menu centered around fried chicken sandwiches. Inspired by gastronomic trips across Europe, three friends set out to create a compact space focused on quality street food. Only fresh ingredients are used: chicken thighs are prepared to order, and both buns and sauces change regularly. The sandwiches are paired with natural wines and vermouth. The average bill ranges from 18 to 23 euros, with the busiest times on weekends.

Seafood lovers should check out Corvina Mx—a spot specializing in Mexican cuisine with a focus on seafood. There are two locations in Madrid: one on Calle Olmo and another on Calle Menorca. The project’s founder, Tadeo Ruiz, aimed to bring the informal marisquería concept, popular in Cancún, to the Spanish capital. The menu includes ceviche, aguachile, and shrimp tostadas, along with other dishes typical of the Pacific coast. A highlight is the aguachile: shrimp marinated in lime and served with a sauce made from cucumber, cilantro, and chili. Almost every dish is based on corn, making them suitable for people with gluten intolerance.

Both Corvina Mx locations offer Mexican beer as well as cocktails featuring mezcal and tequila. The restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with an average bill of around 20 euros. Reservations are available by phone.

Thus, even in September, Madrid offers options for those looking to extend the summer without leaving the city. A pool in the center, chicken sandwiches, and Mexican seafood — there is something for everyone.
