Daughters of Former Rajoy Advisor Cala and Gigi Moragas Conquer New York in Fashion and Finance

Revelations of Jorge Moragas' Daughters: From Their Father's Politics to Conquering the Versace Runway in New York

Two sisters are building their lives in the US. One shines on international runways. The other leads a team in fintech. Discover the story of their remarkable success. They share their future plans.

In the heart of bustling New York, far from the political arena of Madrid, two sisters, Kala and Gigi Moragas, are writing their own success stories. The daughters of Jorge Moragas, once a key figure in the Mariano Rajoy administration, have chosen completely different yet equally impressive paths. They moved to the US as teenagers when their father was appointed as ambassador to the UN, and since then have turned the metropolis into a launchpad for major achievements.

From Viral Video to the Versace Runway

Twenty-five-year-old Kala always saw herself in the fashion industry. After studying at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, she began her journey with small shoots. However, the real springboard for her career was a viral TikTok video filmed during a trip to Venezuela. The clip caught the attention of scouts, and just a month later, Kala signed with one of the world’s leading agencies, Ford Models. Her career skyrocketed. Recently, she opened the Versace show in Milan, then dazzled on the Isabel Marant runway in Paris. Kala admits the offer to open such a high-profile show was a real shock. Out of 76 models, the choice fell on her, which was both intimidating and incredibly honorable. She calls this experience one of the most exciting in her life, though she openly dreams of launching her own brand and becoming her own boss in the future.

A Financial Genius and Entrepreneurial Ambitions

Her younger sister, 24-year-old Gigi, inherited not only a sense of style from her mother, handbag designer Paloma Tey, but also an entrepreneurial spirit. However, her passion lies not in fabrics and sketches, but in the world of big numbers and financial technology. After graduating from Georgetown University with a degree in International Business, she landed a job at the fintech company Ramp. Today, Gigi leads a team of ten in the development department. But that’s not enough for her—she is also working on founding her own financial company together with a partner she met at her current job. Her goal is to build bridges between the financial markets of Europe and the US, making complex instruments accessible to a broader audience.

New York life with a Spanish flair

Both sisters are enamored with New York. They are drawn to its incredible mix of cultures, vibrant energy, and the sense of limitless opportunity. According to Kala, in this city, people are more likely to help you if they see potential, rather than envy you. Gigi adds that any idea, no matter how bold, is accepted here without prejudice. Despite being fully integrated into American life, the sisters have not forgotten their roots. They try to visit Spain at least twice a year, spending time in Menorca, Barcelona, or Madrid. What they miss most away from home are quality food and reasonable prices. Kala jokes that in New York supermarkets, tomatoes taste like watermelon, and watermelon tastes like water. They also miss their family, but note that in a city where almost everyone lives far from home, friends quickly become your new family.

A Look into the Future and Shared Memories

Recalling the past, the sisters share amusing and not-so-funny stories—for example, how during a diving trip in the Galapagos, Gigi was bitten by a sea lion. What was once a shock for everyone has now become a favorite family anecdote. They love traveling together, exploring the world from Colombia to Tanzania. Looking to the future, Kala sees herself in ten years heading her own clothing or cosmetics brand, or perhaps even in the director’s chair making films or commercials. Gigi, on the other hand, plans to devote herself fully to running her financial company, changing the rules of the game on the international stage. Two sisters, two different destinies, but one thing in common: the ability to set ambitious goals and achieve them, no matter where they are.
