MG, a car brand under China’s SAIC Motor, is showing significant growth in the Spanish market. In the first eight months of 2025, the company sold 31,901 vehicles, nearly double the figure for the same period last year. This 58.4% increase propelled MG to ninth place among the country’s most popular brands, surpassing BMW, which now rounds out the top ten.
In August, MG’s sales reached 2,704 units, up 40.4% from the previous year. This result secured the brand a strong position in the rankings and further strengthened its presence in the mass car market.
In August, special attention was drawn to the MG EHS model, which for the first time became the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Spain for the month. This compact crossover outpaced rivals such as BYD Seal U, Toyota RAV4, and Jaecoo 7. In one month, 919 units of the MG EHS were sold, giving the model an 11.6% share of the plug-in hybrid segment. Thanks to these results, the MG EHS rose to third place in the annual ranking, surpassing the Ford Kuga. Over the first eight months of 2025, MG EHS sales reached 4,739 vehicles—six times more than last year’s figure.
Another significant achievement for the brand was the MG ZS. In August, 1,164 new vehicles of this model were registered, allowing it to maintain its position as the most popular SUV in Spain since the start of the year. In the overall sales ranking, the MG ZS holds second place, trailing only the Dacia Sandero, which has remained the leader in recent years. Among private buyers, the MG ZS was also the most in-demand SUV in August, with 1,113 registrations.
The hybrid version of the MG ZS ranked fifth among HEV models in August, while the petrol variant holds a similar position for the year with 9,614 units sold. Thus, MG’s multi-energy lineup continues to gain popularity among Spanish car enthusiasts.
