The stability of Windows 10 maintains its popularity among Spanish users
In Spain, despite the upcoming end of official Windows 10 support, a significant portion of users continues to prefer this operating system. According to the latest data from analytics firms, the share of Windows 11 on the market is barely increasing, and in some months, there’s even a decline in interest in the new version.
Reasons for the slow transition to the new system
Experts note that one of the main reasons for the slow spread of Windows 11 is Microsoft’s policy focused on integrating its own services and artificial intelligence. Users report an increase in built-in advertising, pre-installed applications, and data collection. In addition, many face issues when installing updates, as well as inconsistent interfaces and reduced performance on certain devices.
Hardware requirements have also played a significant role. Installing Windows 11 requires modern processors and support for specific security technologies, which excludes a large number of computers currently in use in Spain from the list of potential users.
Alternative scenarios after the end of support
The official end of mainstream support for Windows 10 is scheduled for October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft recommends that users take advantage of the extended security updates program, which will allow them to continue receiving critical patches for another year. This provides time to plan a transition to a more modern platform.
At the same time, some users are considering waiting for the next version of the operating system, which, according to experts, may address the shortcomings of Windows 11 and restore user confidence. Microsoft has employed a similar strategy in the past, releasing more successful products after less favorable launches.
Unexpected surge of interest in outdated versions
Interestingly, amid the stagnation of Windows 11 and declining market share of Windows 10, Spain has seen an increase in the use of Windows 7. According to analysts, this system has unexpectedly grown in market share, although the reasons for this surge remain unclear. It could be a technical error in the calculations; however, the fact itself shows that some users prefer to stick with tried-and-tested solutions.
Overall, the operating system market in Spain remains unstable. Microsoft needs to convince users of the advantages of its new products to avoid further declines in interest in the latest versions of Windows.
