The Korean automaker Kia has launched its new electric minivan PV5 on the Spanish market, instantly attracting attention from families and business owners alike. The model combines spaciousness, advanced technology, and an agility unusual for its class. Initial tests have shown that, despite its impressive size, the vehicle handles easily in urban environments and can cover long distances without needing a recharge.
In Spain, the PV5 is available in both passenger and cargo versions, each tailored for different needs. The manufacturer has gone beyond standard solutions: the lineup includes both long and shortened variants, and a seven-seat configuration as well as a light commercial truck based on the same platform are expected in the future.
Design and ergonomics: maximum space and thoughtful details
On the outside, the PV5 stands out with its clean lines and aerodynamic silhouette. The passenger version measures nearly 4.7 meters in length, 1.89 meters in both width and height, and the wheelbase approaches 3 meters. Thanks to a low drag coefficient of just 0.286, the vehicle delivers excellent energy efficiency—rare for a model of this size.
The cabin is thoughtfully designed down to the last detail: even tall passengers won’t have to sacrifice comfort. The driver and front passenger have maximum space, while large windows provide excellent visibility. The centerpiece is a 7.5-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 12.9-inch multimedia screen. The interior features numerous compartments and storage spaces, including hidden areas under the floor and the seats. For added convenience, there are mountings for accessories—from gadget holders to tables and coat hooks.
Capacity and versatility: a trunk that surprises
The passenger version seats five, and the second row offers impressive legroom. So much so that first-time passengers often search for an adjustment lever, not believing such space is possible without shifting seats. It’s already confirmed that a seven-seat, 2-3-2 configuration will be introduced in 2026.
The luggage compartment is another strong point in favor of the PV5. When loaded to the roof, its capacity reaches 1,330 liters, with a usable length of 1.31 meters. This trunk is clearly designed for large families or transporting bulky items. No wonder many are anticipating the arrival of a third row of seats, which will unlock the cabin’s full potential.
Performance and handling: an electric van that exceeds expectations
On the road, the PV5 delivers unexpectedly agile performance for its class. Thanks to its large glass surfaces and low window line, the driver enjoys excellent visibility, which is especially important for maneuvering in tight city spaces. The turning radius is just 5.5 meters, making it easy to park even in limited areas.
In terms of comfort and sound insulation, the vehicle feels closer to passenger cars than traditional commercial vans. The suspension absorbs bumps effectively, and the braking system is smooth and responsive. The driver can choose from four regeneration modes, including one-pedal driving (i-Pedal). Average energy consumption ranges from 19 to 19.3 kWh per 100 km, depending on the version selected.
Specifications and pricing: options for every need
Customers can choose between two electric motor options: a base 122 hp model with a 51.5 kWh battery, and a more powerful 163 hp version with a 71.2 kWh battery. The passenger variant offers a range from 295 to 412 kilometers, while the cargo version can travel up to 416 kilometers on a single charge. An additional 43.3 kWh battery is available for commercial clients.
The passenger version starts at €38,690 for the Essential trim with the smaller battery. With discounts and government subsidies, the price can drop to €25,350. The version with the larger battery costs at least €29,350, while top trims Plus and Elite are priced at €31,750 and €33,850 respectively. The cargo variant for business is available from €18,397, taking into account tax deductions and support for entrepreneurs.
