In July 2025, the second generation of the Citroën C5 Aircross will debut on the Spanish market. The new SUV has grown significantly: it now measures 4.65 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width, and 1.66 meters in height. The wheelbase has been extended to 2.78 meters, providing additional space for second-row passengers. At the same time, the trunk volume has slightly decreased and now stands at 565 liters, regardless of engine type.
The vehicle is built on the STLA Medium platform used by the Stellantis group. This has made it possible to introduce modern powertrains, including hybrid and fully electric options. The base Hybrid 145 version features a 136-horsepower three-cylinder petrol engine and a 12-horsepower electric motor integrated into a six-speed automatic transmission. The combined output reaches 145 hp, and a small 0.9 kWh battery enables short-distance electric driving.
The lineup also includes a plug-in hybrid version, which combines a 150-horsepower petrol engine with a 125-horsepower electric motor and a 21 kWh battery. The total output is 195 hp, with an electric range of up to 96 km. Charging with a standard device takes just over five hours, and with the optional 7.4 kW charger, it takes less than three hours.
For the first time, the C5 Aircross is available in fully electric versions. The 213 hp model is equipped with a 73 kWh battery and can travel up to 520 km on a single charge. A more powerful 231 hp version, offering an increased range of up to 680 km thanks to a 97 kWh battery, is expected soon. Both variants support fast DC charging up to 160 kW and AC charging up to 11 kW, as well as an optional 22 kW charger with V2L functionality for powering external devices.
The vehicle’s interior has been completely redesigned. The dashboard now features two digital displays: a customizable 10-inch instrument cluster and a 13-inch vertical touchscreen for the infotainment system. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is supported, along with navigation featuring route planning and over-the-air updates. The voice control system allows users to operate vehicle functions using natural language commands.
The interior is even more spacious: rear passengers now have 51 mm more legroom. However, instead of three individual seats, there is now a single bench, which reduces the flexibility of the seat configuration. Nonetheless, the backrests can be reclined between 21 and 33 degrees. The luggage compartment retains its practical storage compartments.
During the initial test drives in Mallorca, the car demonstrated a high level of comfort. The suspension with hydraulic stops effectively smooths out bumps, and the steering is tuned for smoothness rather than sporty precision. Both front and rear seats offer comfort, although the interior has become less versatile compared to the previous version. The finish quality is also slightly inferior to the previous generation.
On the road, the C5 Aircross performs steadily and calmly. A ground clearance of 200 mm allows it to easily handle urban obstacles. Even with 20-inch wheels, the comfort level remains high, making the model suitable for family trips and long journeys.
The equipment includes modern driver assistance systems: Drive Assist 2.0 with semi-automatic lane change, cross-traffic alert, and emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and driver fatigue monitoring. Also available are matrix LED headlights, a panoramic roof, head-up display, customizable interior lighting, and a power tailgate with hands-free opening.
The base Hybrid 145 version is priced at 27,690 euros, taking into account the introductory offer. The electric ë-C5 Aircross Max is priced at 43,590 euros. Various configurations and engine options are available in between, allowing buyers to choose a car suited to their individual needs.
