A fisherman spotted a body between Sitges and Castelldefels and alerted emergency services. Police said fingerprints were checked to help confirm whether the remains were those of the 12-year-old who disappeared in Granollers.

Eleven days later, a fisherman spotted a body at sea near Port Ginesta, between Sitges and Castelldefels, and called 112. The alert came on Wednesday afternoon, October 15. Port Ginesta lies roughly 40 kilometres from Granollers in a straight line.
The search had focused on rivers and waterways around Granollers, including the Besòs basin. Teams had also searched on land. The discovery came after days of work along waterways.
A Mossos d’Esquadra Maritime Police boat went to the location after the call. The body was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Catalonia in Bellvitge for identification. It was in an advanced state of decomposition, so visual identification was insufficient. Investigators examined fingerprints as part of the checks. ARA reported that the clothing could match what the boy had been wearing. Later, Catalan media reported that the body had been identified as Rami.
After Rami disappeared, emergency crews searched the Besòs river and nearby waterways, including the Valldoriolf stream. Teams also checked the point near Montmeló where the Mogent meets the Congost. The Besòs joins them there. As the search widened, crews checked both banks of the Carbonell stream north of Granollers.
Firefighters and Mossos d’Esquadra took part, alongside local police. Rural agents joined the operation, as did Civil Protection and volunteers.
Helicopters and drones were used. Search dogs also took part. Specialist underwater teams joined the effort, including several units from the Bombers de la Generalitat. Crews covered riverbanks and waterways linked to the Besòs.
Catalan president Salvador Illa offered condolences to the family at a ceremony marking the 86th anniversary of the execution of former Generalitat president Lluís Companys. Companys was executed on October 15, 1940. In a message in Catalan, Illa wrote: «No hi ha paraules en aquests moments tan dolorosos. Tot el meu afecte i escalf a la família i les amistats del nen desaparegut a Granollers. Gràcies a tots els equips d’emergències que han treballat sense descans durant aquests dies tan difícils».
Nació Digital reported that sea currents could have carried the body to Port Ginesta. The role of currents remained a possibility during the investigation.
