City officials promise concerts, theater performances, and gastronomic initiatives in every district. Events will take place across all 10 city districts.
The Barcelona authorities have announced the launch of a large-scale program timed to coincide with the start of the Grand Départ Tour de France. From June 26 to July 5, the city will host more than 60 events covering all 10 districts. Organizers emphasize that the festivities will be accessible to residents of every district, not just the central squares.
The program includes concerts, theater performances, circus shows, and gastronomic events. The main music events will take place at Plaça de la Catedral and Plaça de Margarida Xirgu, featuring Sexenni, 31Fam, DJ Trapella, and Doctor Prats—the latter prepared the official opening anthem titled Energia. Separate performances for families with children are planned at Port Olímpic and Tibidabo Park.
One of the key new initiatives is the Le Tour on Tour project—a special themed platform created by artist Sergi Ots, which will travel through all city districts. To further engage residents, the authorities are launching the Barcelona en ruta initiative: 18 separate events will be held across different parts of the city to ensure the celebration isn't limited to the center.
City markets and shopping streets are actively participating: 14 commercial corridors, 40 markets, and six shopping centers will host theater, exhibitions, and open workshops. According to FEMM Barcelona representatives, all 42 city markets are already decorated with Tour de France symbols, and a special gastronomic campaign will launch soon, though the details remain under wraps for now.
The authorities have also announced the release of an official tortilla, a signature cake, and Tour de France bread to be baked by renowned baker Enric Badia. Additionally, the city will be decorated with yellow lighting on landmark buildings and giant race jersey symbols. The Tour de France team presentation will take place on July 2 at the Sant Pau complex, and from July 2 to 5, a Fan Park will be open. On July 4, a team time trial will be held on the streets of Barcelona, followed the next day by the finish of the race’s second stage.
The Tour de France is the world's largest cycling race, attracting millions of viewers every year. In 2026, the race will start in Barcelona for the first time, highlighting the city's status as one of Europe's leading sports centers. According to organizers, such events help develop urban infrastructure and promote cycling among residents.
