Police in Valencia arrested a couple at Estación del Norte at 8:35 a.m. under a court order from Tarragona linked to the disappearance and suspected homicide of their baby in Santa Bàrbara. The investigation began when the baby’s grandfather filed a complaint. El País reported that he told police his daughter-in-law had allegedly informed him of the baby’s death and said the child was buried at home in a cardboard box. The complaint led Mossos d’Esquadra to seal the family’s home in Santa Bàrbara. Officers found 28 dogs living in malnourished, unhygienic conditions, along with the remains of other animals. Despite extensive searches, investigators found no human remains in the home. The grandfather had met the couple’s other five children but told police he had never seen the missing baby.
