Dacia Sandero, the country’s best-selling car, is moving into the camper scene. The Stepway model now offers a dedicated awning and new practical add-ons, making it more appealing to outdoor fans.

For years, the Dacia Sandero has ruled Spanish city streets. Now, it’s stepping off the pavement. The Stepway version is getting a 3x3 meter canvas awning, made with 40% recycled material and held up by three telescopic poles. This is the first time the Sandero can be set up for camping. It’s a big change for a car known mostly for city driving.

Before this, Dacia only offered camper-style features on its bigger models. That’s over. The new awning fits any Sandero Stepway with roof bars. It puts the Sandero in the same league as the Jogger, Duster, and Bigster, which already have InNature accessories for outdoor use.

According to data from ANFAC, Faconauto and Ganvam, Dacia Sandero led the Spanish market with 25,926 registrations from January to September 2026, but this was accompanied by a 9.9% year-on-year decline in sales.

Dacia isn’t stopping at the awning. The brand is rolling out new YouClip accessories for daily life. There’s a sunglasses holder and a shopping bag, both made from recycled materials. They snap right into the car’s interior. These may seem like small details. But they show how carmakers are adding practical, eco-friendly touches.

The InNature line goes further for Dacia’s larger cars. The Sleep pack turns the back of the car into a double bed with a 190x130 cm mattress. There’s also a 5.6-meter tent that attaches to the rear hatch. It sleeps two or three people and has a vestibule under a wind-blocking canopy. These features have made Dacia’s bigger models popular with budget travelers.

Demand for flexible cars is rising in Spain. People want vehicles that work for both city life and weekend escapes. According to earlier reports, used car sales have jumped as buyers look for practical options that fit new routines. The Sandero’s camper kit is a direct answer. It gives drivers a cheap way to try outdoor living without losing everyday comfort.

In September 2026, the Spanish car market registered 93,858 new vehicles, marking a 10.2% increase over the previous year and achieving the best September result in two decades. Electrified vehicles, including electric and plug-in hybrids, accounted for about one third of monthly sales.

By adding InNature gear to the Sandero Stepway, Dacia is betting that Spanish drivers want more than just a low price. They want options. They want adventure. This move keeps the Sandero on top and pushes other brands to rethink what entry-level cars can do. It’s a smart play. The timing is right. For many, it’s just what they’ve been waiting for.
