Two officers from the Policía Local and Guardia Civil recovered the body and brought it ashore, but there were no signs of life. The woman was dressed in sportswear, and her handbag was found floating nearby, which helped officers confirm her identity. Pilar was the mother of two daughters, who were notified of her death by the responding officers at the scene.
Initial examinations by local police and the Guardia Civil found no evidence of criminal activity or violence. The case has been transferred to the Guardia Civil’s Judicial Police division, which is conducting further inquiries to clarify the circumstances. The body was transported to the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML) in València for an autopsy; the results are still pending. Levante-EMV reported that the investigation remains open, although authorities have so far ruled out foul play.
