The daily Euribor rate opened October at 3.303%, down from the previous session. It still started the month above September's average, keeping pressure on variable mortgage costs in Spain.
Tuesday's daily reading was 3.329%. The Euribor then fell 0.026 points to open October at 3.303%. That first October figure remains above September's monthly average of 3.238%. For households with variable-rate mortgages in Spain, the monthly reference matters most when borrowing costs are reset.
The single-day move was small. The wider trend is not. October has started well above the 2.954% average in August and the 2.855% figure in July. The average stood at 2.798% in June and 2.804% in May.
