A 24-year-old man died after a knife wound to the neck in Parla. His friend, also 24, suffered a serious chest injury. Police are searching for those responsible and examining the circumstances.

Shortly before dawn in Parla, a southern suburb of Madrid, two 24-year-old friends were attacked with a knife. One died at the scene, and the other remains in critical condition. The assault happened at the intersection of Santo Tomás de Aquino and Macarena streets, prompting a major police investigation as authorities try to identify those involved.

Emergency services received a call at 6:35 a.m. on Sunday about a violent altercation between two young men. When Summa 112 paramedics arrived, they found one man with a deep neck wound. Despite 40 minutes of resuscitation, he could not be revived. His friend had a stab wound to the left side of his chest. Paramedics stabilized him and took him in serious condition to Hospital Puerta de Hierro for further treatment.

The incident took place in a densely populated residential area, increasing the importance of eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage for the investigation.

Police have not released information about possible motives or suspects. The National Police are leading the investigation and have started canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence. The attack happened in a busy part of Parla, a municipality of nearly 138,000 people about 20 kilometers south of Madrid. Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid confirmed the main details of the incident, including the time, location, and nature of the injuries, which have also been reported by Europa Press.

Family and friends of the victims gathered at the scene. A psychologist from Summa 112 was sent to support them. The shock and grief were clear as the early morning calm in the neighborhood was broken by sudden violence.

The second victim's injuries were initially described as potentially life-threatening. Medical teams said further tests would be needed to determine the full extent of internal damage. Thanks to the quick response by emergency services, he received immediate care, but his prognosis is still uncertain.

In September 2026, Parla was also the site of another fatal incident, which has led to increased police attention in the area. However, authorities have not established any direct connection between the two cases, and the current investigation remains focused on gathering evidence and clarifying the circumstances of the latest attack.

Knife attacks among young adults in Spanish cities have become a growing concern for police in recent years. Authorities have called for community vigilance and quick reporting of suspicious activity. Parla, like other Madrid suburbs, has seen more police patrols after isolated violent incidents, though large-scale patterns remain rare compared to other European cities.

This case highlights the unpredictable nature of street violence and the challenges faced by emergency responders and investigators. The National Police continue to gather evidence and search for those responsible as the community looks for answers.
