Five cars remain inside the flooded AP-7 tunnel near Pilar de la Horadada, keeping traffic stopped both ways between km 770 and 774. One direction may reopen Wednesday; the other has no date.

Everyone evacuated from the tunnel’s stranded cars overnight on Monday escaped injury; the road remains closed pending clearance and safety checks. Five vehicles are still inside the AP-7 tunnel near Pilar de la Horadada, where water and mud have blocked the road. The Guardia Civil received the flooding alert at about 11 p.m. on Monday, 19 October. Información reported that 13 people were rescued from vehicles in the tunnel after a downpour brought around 50 litres of rain per square metre in less than 45 minutes, flooding all four lanes.

The closure covers both directions between kilometres 770 and 774, between Torre de la Horadada and Pilar de la Horadada. Sources consulted by EFE said the Cartagena–Alicante direction is expected to reopen on Wednesday. The other direction has no reopening date: the roadway must be cleared, and crews must check safety systems, including electrical systems. Although the water had drained by the morning of 20 October, mud and stranded cars remained inside. Road crews were clearing the tunnel and removing the vehicles. Drivers were advised to use the parallel N-332 while the AP-7 remains closed.

This is the second time the tunnel has flooded. It was inundated during the September 2019 dana that hit Alicante’s Vega Baja comarca.

The DGT says flooding has also interrupted traffic on the CV-700 and CV-728 in Pego, in the Marina Alta. Its restrictions also included the CV-715 and CV-727; the CV-727 was closed from kilometre 0 to 2.1, the CV-728 from kilometre 0 to 3.8, and the CV-700 between kilometres 58.7 and 59.3. Elsewhere, Els Poblets flooding was reported during Storm Adam as the Girona and Vernisa overflowed.
