At 23:56 on 26 October, firefighters were called to a two-level garage on Calle Pintor Francisco Llorens in Visma, A Coruña, after residents reported dense smoke. The garage has around 130 parking spaces, and its lower level took the brunt of the fire. Firefighters worked to keep smoke from spreading to the homes above. Three vehicles were completely burned out. No one was injured.
Flames also damaged two other cars and a motorcycle, bringing the total number of affected vehicles and two-wheeled vehicles to six. Heat damaged ceiling panels and structural elements, while pipes in the ceiling and walls broke. The fire service described the material damage as particularly extensive. Once the blaze was out, firefighters sealed off the garage and marked it as a safety precaution.
Bomberos de A Coruña was expected at the site on the morning of 27 October to assess structural damage and determine preventive measures. Policía Local and Policía Científica were also expected to inspect the site. The cause remained under investigation. Spanish rules generally require vehicles that remain registered and active to carry compulsory third-party insurance, even when parked in a private garage. This guide to parked-car insurance explains the rules.
Firefighters also answered a separate call at 00:36 on Calle Agra da Bragua, where a fire had started in a building’s electricity meter panel. Residents had put it out before crews arrived. Four firefighters responded in one vehicle. The distribution bars and basic fuses had burned, so crews cut power to the entire building to prevent the fire from restarting.
