Ayuso Strengthens Her Position: Poll Predicts Growing Majority in Madrid. Isabel Díaz Ayuso could gain two more seats in the Madrid Assembly. A GAD3 poll shows a decline for Más Madrid and a rise for Vox. PSOE moves into second place by vote count.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso maintains her leadership in Madrid politics and, according to a recent GAD3 survey for El Debate, could increase her parliamentary majority. If elections to the Madrid Assembly were held now, the Partido Popular would receive 48.7% of the vote and secure 72 seats out of 135 — two more than in the previous legislature. This result strengthens the position of the current regional government and may affect the balance of power in the upcoming elections, which are expected on May 23 next year, simultaneously with the municipal elections.

Más Madrid, on the other hand, is losing support: the party risks decreasing its representation to 23 deputies and 16.2% of the vote, noticeably less than last year's 27 seats and 18.4%. Against this backdrop, the PSOE shows a slight increase — 19.6% of the vote and 28 seats, allowing the Socialists to outpace Más Madrid in the number of seats. Vox is also strengthening its position, raising its presence to 12 deputies (8.7% of the vote), while Podemos remains out of parliament, failing to surpass the threshold with 3.3% support.

In the assessment of regional leaders, Isabel Díaz Ayuso remains the only politician to receive a positive rating — 5.3 out of 10 points with 100% name recognition. Mónica García of Más Madrid scores 3.4 points and is known to 93% of respondents. The Socialist leader Óscar López received 3.3 points with 85% recognition, while Vox representative José Antonio Fuster got 2.9 points and 71% recognition.

The survey was conducted from May 7 to May 14, during a period of heightened attention to regional politics due to Ayuso's visit to Mexico. During the same period, internal competition intensified within Spanish parties: for example, Esquerra Republicana was debating control over candidate lists, as was recently examined in detail in a report on Gabriel Rufián's demands. in the Catalan political context.

For reference: The Madrid Assembly is a unicameral parliament of the autonomous community, consisting of 135 deputies. The Partido Popular has traditionally held a leading position in the region, with Isabel Díaz Ayuso heading the government since 2019. In recent years, political competition in Madrid has intensified, which is also reflected in the dynamics of party support. Public opinion polls often serve as an indicator of upcoming changes in regional politics and can influence party strategies ahead of elections.
