The sixth Iberseries & Platino Industria will bring the screen industry to Madrid from 29 September to 2 October. Isabel Díaz Ayuso is using the event to promote the city as an audiovisual capital, with Mexico as the guest country.

The sixth Iberseries & Platino Industria opens at Matadero Madrid on 29 September and runs through 2 October. Creators and industry professionals will attend. Isabel Díaz Ayuso is using the event to call Madrid the sector's "capital indiscutible audiovisual".

The political message is clear. Madrid is being presented as more than a venue for the gathering. The city is meant to look like the place where talent and opportunity meet. Four days of project presentations, creator experiences and new alliances will put that claim to the test across the audiovisual industries of Ibero-America and Europe. According to EFE, the 2026 programme involves 54 countries, more than 1,500 companies and 230 speakers.

The sixth edition began with an opening event at Teatros del Canal on 28 September, while the main programme runs at Matadero Madrid from 29 September to 2 October 2026.

The programme is built around work rather than ceremony. New projects will move forward. Creators will discuss their experiences. Agreements will also be signed during the event. That mix explains why the regional government is placing Madrid at the center of its public message. Variety and The Hollywood Reporter identify AI, microdramas, adaptations and new financing models as major discussion topics.

Matadero Madrid will host the sector from 29 September through 2 October. The venue will give producers, platforms, broadcasters, distributors, investors and creators a shared place to meet. The source material does not name the projects or alliances involved. It does state that both will be part of the agenda. Participants will come from Europe, Latin America and the United States.

Madrid's wider public agenda has also included disputes over housing and the pressure around them, as shown in an earlier Madrid report. This event has a different focus. The regional president is presenting cultural and industrial activity as a reason to look toward the capital. EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya are organising the event. FIPCA is taking part, with support from Madrid Film Office and Madrid Film Region.

Mexico is the guest country of the 2026 edition and is represented by a substantial group of projects and participants. EFE reports that around 100 projects were selected from roughly 1,000 applications, reinforcing the forum’s role as a development and industry platform rather than only a ceremonial gathering.

Ayuso's intervention gives the gathering its institutional frame. By calling Madrid the "capital indiscutible audiovisual", she ties the city's identity to an international professional forum rather than to one production or announcement. The event will show projects and make room for alliances. The available information does not confirm a completed deal beyond the announced signing of agreements during the meeting.

That distinction matters. Iberseries & Platino Industria is a forum for contacts, plans and shared experience. It is not proof that every announced project has entered production. Its confirmed value in this report is more direct: the event brings the sector together at Matadero Madrid and gives creators and industry representatives a place to advance their work in public. Screen Daily and other industry publications describe the gathering as part of the Spanish- and Portuguese-language audiovisual ecosystem connecting Ibero-America with Europe.

The claim is ambitious. The event is concrete. Madrid will host the sixth edition of a forum that spans Ibero-America and Europe. Ayuso is supplying the political endorsement. On the facts available here, the gathering offers a significant showcase for Madrid's audiovisual position. It does not prove results that have not been reported. The Hollywood Reporter has also described Madrid's broader growth as a filming and production center, giving the political presentation an industrial backdrop.
