Madrid will begin its flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign on 5 October. The first appointments will focus on older people and children before wider access begins.
Children as young as six months are included in Madrid's first flu appointments. The 2026-2027 campaign will open on 5 October and expand in stages.
People aged 60 and over will be among the first groups covered. So will children from six months through seven years of age.
That is broader than the general recommendation for children aged six to 59 months. Madrid is giving older residents and young children priority during the opening fortnight.
Madrid’s 2026-2027 seasonal vaccination window is scheduled to remain open through 31 January 2027, after the initial groups are brought into the programme in stages.
The next groups enter the calendar in stages.
Healthcare professionals will join the campaign on 13 October. From 19 October, Madrid will extend it to the remaining target groups.
That group includes people aged eight to 59 with certain risk conditions. It also includes pregnant women in any trimester and women in the first six months after childbirth if they were not vaccinated while pregnant.
Carers and household members of vulnerable people are included too. Workers in essential public services can also receive the vaccine. Madrid says the campaign is intended to reduce severe cases and complications among older people, children and those whose illnesses or other conditions raise their risk.
A separate RSV immunisation programme for infants is scheduled to start in Madrid on 1 October 2026, before the flu and Covid-19 campaign begins. RTVE presents it as part of the region’s wider autumn protection measures for children.
Covid-19 vaccination will also start on 5 October. Its recommended groups are not identical to the flu groups.
Sanidad is directing Covid-19 vaccination at people more likely to develop complications or severe disease. Their carers, household members, and staff in health and social care are included as well.

According to La Razón, residents can book through primary-care centres, by telephone, in person, or through the regional health service's app and website. Eligibility still depends on the relevant risk group and medical guidance.
The campaign forms part of Spain's wider 2026-2027 autumn vaccination effort. Start dates differ between autonomous communities.
RTVE and Público report that Madrid is among the regions starting in early October. Other communities are beginning later.
The timetable gives people at higher risk earlier access before the programme widens on 19 October. Families should check which vaccine each person needs and whether both can be given during one visit.
They should also confirm which booking channel is available in their area.
