The 41st Premios Goya will take place at Pamplona's Navarra Arena on 6 February 2027. Screenings, exhibitions and industry events will run alongside the gala, the first Goya ceremony ever held in Navarra.
Fernando Méndez-Leite confirmed the Navarra Arena in Madrid alongside Navarra president María Chivite. The ceremony will take place on 6 February 2027. According to the Spanish Film Academy and reports by Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, Navarra will host Spain's main film awards for the first time.
The move takes the ceremony from Barcelona to Navarra. It also gives the region a national platform for cinema beyond the gala itself.
That is a first for Navarra.
The 2027 ceremony will be the first edition of the Premios Goya hosted by Navarra, giving the region its debut as the awards’ official host.
The event will be presented as the Goya Awards of Navarra. The Academy has set 15 December 2026 for the nominee announcement. The traditional nominees' party will follow on 11 January 2027.
The Academy also plans a wider programme around the ceremony. It will include exhibitions, meetings with film professionals and screenings, according to Méndez-Leite. The announcement did not give the exact schedule or full details.
Navarra's ties to Spanish cinema will sit at the centre of the event's presentation.
The Navarra Arena is the largest events venue in Navarra. Reports about the selection cite a standard capacity of approximately 13,613 people, with the arena able to adopt different configurations for a televised awards ceremony.
Méndez-Leite pointed to films made in the region. They include Tasio and Secretos del corazón by Montxo Armendáriz, Las Brujas de Zugarramurdi by Álex de la Iglesia, 8 apellidos vascos by Emilio Martínez Lázaro and the adaptation of the Baztán trilogy.
He also named film professionals from Navarra: Alfredo Landa, Najwa Nimri, Itxaso Arana, Fernando González Molina, Elena Taberna, Félix Viscarret and Andrea Jaurrieta.
Chivite called the hosting role both an honour and a responsibility. She said moving the ceremony beyond Madrid can broaden its audience. In her view, cinema can support social cohesion, widen imagination and encourage critical thinking.
For the regional government, the event fits an existing plan to present Navarra as a destination for national and international productions. Chivite said the region would keep supporting its tax-incentive system. She linked that system to economic activity and employment.
The Goya Awards have used an itinerant format since 2019. Each edition has taken place in a different city outside Madrid. Seville hosted in 2019 and 2023. Málaga hosted in 2020 and 2021. Valencia hosted in 2022, followed by Valladolid in 2024 and Granada in 2025.
Barcelona hosted the 2026 ceremony. That edition continued the Academy's policy of taking the gala beyond Madrid before the handover to Pamplona.
Now Barcelona passes the event to a region that wants wider recognition for its film identity. Pamplona's selection gives the Academy a clear way to connect the ceremony with local production history. The public programme can also spread across Navarra.
The choice has a wider regional meaning.
It brings together Navarra's film policy, cultural activity and the awards themselves. The 2027 gala will show how well that plan works as a public event. The date, venue and nomination timetable are already fixed.
Pamplona now has a national showcase to deliver. The decision links the Premios Goya to Navarra's record of hosting shoots and developing film incentives. It is more than a routine change of venue.
