On June 6, 2026, Zamora will host the 10th Triatlón Ciudad de Zamora, which for the first time will serve as the official venue for the Castilla y León Triathlon Championship. Organizers have already announced that all 200 entries are filled: 160 in the Sprint category and 40 among juniors. This decision is due to strong interest in the event and the need to ensure safety and quality.
The main venue is Los Pelambres beach on the Duero River. This is where the main race will start at 15:30. Adult athletes will compete for medals and cash prizes on a course comprising 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling, and a 5-kilometer run. For juniors, there is a shortened route: 300 meters in water, 10 kilometers by bike, and a 2.5-kilometer run. The junior race format remains the same as last year, which helps young athletes quickly adapt to the course conditions.
This year, an especially high level of competition is expected: among the participants are athletes from Spain’s national team at international tournaments, as well as representatives of clubs from Madrid, Galicia, and Asturias. Winners in each category will receive not only medals and trophies, but also cash prizes: €300, €150, and €50 for the top three men and women.
The event is supported by the municipality and Fundación Caja Rural. Representatives of the city and the foundation noted the contribution of Club Triatlón Duero to the development of grassroots sports and expressed hope for strong spectator interest. The competition is expected to draw attention not only from local residents but also from visitors to the region.
