Doechii leads a 151-artist bill built around indie favourites, new voices and a stronger female presence. Primavera Sound will run in Barcelona from 3 to 5 June 2027, with a free opening day and an electronic programme on 6 June.
At the 2025 Grammys, Doechii became the third artist to win the award for best rap album with Alligator bites never heal. She now takes the clearest headliner slot at Primavera Sound's 25th anniversary edition in Barcelona. Billboard has placed her among the festival's leading names, after her rise through 2025 and 2026.
The festival will bring 151 artists to Parc del Fòrum from 3 to 5 June 2027. It will also return to the indie roots that shaped its reputation while giving more room to newer voices.
The anniversary edition has a strong female presence.
Primavera Bits will form a separate element of the anniversary programme, extending the event beyond the three main festival days and the additional free opening day.
Nine women are among the 14 most prominent names announced by the organisers. Hayley Williams of Paramore, Lola Young, Adéla and Angine de Poitrine will make their Peninsular debuts. Tinashe, Sophia Stel and Weyes Blood also appear further down the bill.
Phoebe Bridgers arrives after the release of her third album, Lost weekend. Caroline Polachek, Pavement and The Chemical Brothers will play Primavera Sound in Barcelona for the first time. FKA twigs will bring a new show. Fontaines D.C., Turnstile and Skrillex are among the returning acts.
Coverage of the announcement has focused on the balance between the festival's established indie and alternative sound and its growing pop and rap presence. That shift matters.
Massive Attack and Bad Gyal will finally get to play the concerts that rain canceled during the previous edition. Their return ties the anniversary programme to the festival's recent history.
The electronic programme will extend beyond the names already announced for 6 June: Underworld, Bicep and DJ Stingray 313 are also included, while Skrillex is scheduled for a back-to-back set with Ninajirachi.
Local artists fill a substantial part of the bill. Alcalá Norte is preparing its second album. Metrika is known for a provocative live set, and Guillem Gisbert is working on new music.
Mushka, pablopablo, Los Punsetes, Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len, Irenegarry and Tristan! join them. The group puts Barcelona's immediate music scene beside international headliners. Bad Gyal is also part of the Catalan and Spanish contingent. An earlier festival report covered the wider Catalan scene through Girona's cultural circuit.
The bill reaches well beyond indie rock. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard bring Australian psychedelic rock. Bleachers represent canonical indie pop, while Dinosaur jr return as a seminal American noise-rock band. Vashti Bunyan, who is 81 and rarely appears onstage, is another notable booking. Anhoni will return with a set built around Lou Reed songs.
Adéla brings a mainstream pop sound alongside Kim Petras, Tinashe, Shygirl, Theodora and Hearts2Hearts. Converge, Full of Hell, Castle Rat and Prostitute cover the heavier side of the festival. The programme keeps its older indie identity while making room for discovery.
The schedule is still open. Primavera a la Ciutat and the free concert on Wednesday 2 June have not yet been announced. Richie Hawtin, Four Tet and Dixon are already set for the electronic session on Sunday 6 June.
The event now stretches beyond its three main days. The free opening day is set for 2 June, and Primavera Bits will form a separate part of the anniversary programme. Tickets go on sale Friday 9 October. Presale registration is available from today for Thursday 8 October. Residents of the Barcelona metropolitan area will again receive a 10% discount.
This is a wide anniversary bill with a clear shape. Doechii leads it. Women, first-time appearances, returning names and local acts all take more space. The festival will present 151 artists across three main days, a free opening day on 2 June, Primavera Bits and a separate electronic session on 6 June. Primavera Sound is using the anniversary to strengthen its original identity rather than rely on nostalgia alone.
