The initiative for the deal came from Real's president Florentino Pérez, who had promised supporters a record offer for a 'galáctico' player during his election campaign. After winning the election, he fulfilled his promise, but encountered Atletico's firm stance. In an official statement, Real emphasized that negotiations were conducted within the framework of good relations between the clubs, but the result was clear — only the buyout clause could be considered.
The attempt to sign Julián Álvarez became the latest in a series of unsuccessful transfer efforts by Real. At the moment, PSG has no information indicating that Vitinha or João Neves wish to leave France.
