Samsung has unveiled a smaller Galaxy SmartTag 3 with up to 790 days of battery life. The new tracker also works with iPhone and adds automatic location alerts.
The redesign cuts the tracker's volume by 35% and its weight by 33%. Samsung has also extended battery life to 790 days in energy-saving mode.
Galaxy SmartTag 3 is the company's first location tag that works with both iOS and Android devices. The smaller body should fit more easily in a wallet or bag. Optional accessories let owners attach it to a pet's collar.
That is the practical change.

Notify When Left Behind alerts users when a mobile device loses its connection with a configured tag. Samsung says location data remains encrypted.
Samsung executive Jay Kim said the product was built around requests for a simpler and more convenient way to locate belongings and pets. The company plans to bring Galaxy SmartTag 3 to major markets, including Spain, over the coming weeks.
Samsung has not disclosed the recommended retail price. The previous generation initially carried a recommended price of 39.90 euros.
The new model fixes three practical limits: its size, its battery life and its platform support. The 60-metre guidance, automatic alerts and pet-focused accessories add more uses beyond finding a lost object.
Price is still unknown. Until Samsung confirms it, the strongest case for Galaxy SmartTag 3 is in its specifications. It is a smaller tracker built for everyday use over a long period.
