A new property has appeared on the luxury real estate rental market of the Canary Islands: Jon Kortajarena's villa on Lanzarote is now available for guests. The model and actor purchased a 1970s oceanfront bungalow complex back in 2014 and later carried out a major renovation. The project was implemented in collaboration with designer Morena Bucher and architect José María Sánchez Pérez, drawing inspiration from the ideas of the renowned César Manrique.
The main feature of the house is its embrace of the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which values natural beauty, imperfection, and raw materials. The finishes include volcanic stone, wood, glass, linen, and iron. The interior is free of unnecessary details: only clean lines, rough textures, and large windows opening up panoramas of the Atlantic, the desert, and the Famara mountains.
The villa includes seven bedrooms and bathrooms, some of which are outdoors. The central space is a living room with a sliding glass facade: from here, the sea, desert, and mountains can be seen at once. The grounds feature a pool and a garden planted with palms, cacti, and bougainvillea chosen for the local climate.
In decorating the space, Jon Kortajarena used items collected during his travels around the world, including a rare shell from New York. According to him, the atmosphere of the house is not universal: some guests find it too open, while others find it cozy. Starting in 2024, the villa is available for rent as a whole, with a rental rate of around 1600 euros per night.
Lanzarote is one of the most popular islands in the Canary archipelago, known for its volcanic landscape and mild climate. In recent years, demand for unique rental homes here has been steadily growing, especially among European tourists. According to Spanish agencies, properties with designer interiors and private locations are in demand year-round.
