Shakira and Piqué appeared in Barcelona over travel arrangements for their children. Shakira's lawyers want Piqué to make short holiday visits in Miami instead of having Milan and Sasha fly between Spain and the United States.

Milan and Sasha have lived in Miami with Shakira since April 2023. Their travel schedule brought Shakira and Piqué before a Barcelona court on Tuesday 6 October.

The hearing concerns short holiday visits between Barcelona and Miami. Shakira's legal team wants Piqué to travel to Miami during brief breaks from school. The children would then avoid transatlantic flights and the time difference that follows them.

The proposal would not reduce the time Milan and Sasha spend with their father. Shakira's lawyers say it would divide the travel burden more fairly instead of placing it all on the children. They also argue that staying closer to their school routine, social life and family life would better protect their emotional, physical and academic wellbeing.

The Barcelona court is reviewing an existing separation agreement approved in December 2022, rather than deciding the family arrangements from scratch.

The case is about changing that agreement. A Barcelona court approved it in December 2022. The children now live in Miami with Shakira, so the contact schedule depends on regular travel between the United States and Spain.

Communication between the two sides worsened over several months. The dispute reached court after negotiations failed. Ramón Tamborero, who represents Piqué, told La Vanguardia that talks continued until the final stage but did not prevent a hearing.

The hearing took place at Barcelona’s Court of First Instance No. 18, a court handling family disputes. Milan was 13 and Sasha 11 on the date of the hearing.

Shakira arrived at the Barcelona courthouse at around 10.00 in the morning with Carmen Varela. Varela specialises in international family disputes. Piqué attended with Tamborero, who also has expertise in this area.

The request is not framed as a cut in parental contact. It concerns the place where short visits would happen. Under the plan described by Shakira's team, Piqué would travel to Miami for holidays lasting only a few days. Longer arrangements would not change under the request.

Earlier reports on the agreement said Piqué could spend agreed holiday periods with the children and see them for roughly ten days a month. The current initiative would change the location of part of that contact. It would not cancel it.

According to El País, Shakira's lawyers say short transatlantic trips can cause jet lag. They can also disrupt the children's school, social and family routines. Her team says the proposed change would leave the amount of time with their father unchanged.

That is the central argument.

Shakira is also in Madrid for her concert residency. Four shows remain. The court appearance has put a private family dispute beside a public schedule that continues to attract major attention.

Organisers have announced Maluma, Beéle and Dani Martín as guests for the final Madrid concert on 12 October. The show will be the 13th concert of Shakira's residency in the Spanish capital. Pino Sagliocco, president of Live Nation España, confirmed that detail as reported by Efe.

Maluma and Shakira will perform together again. They previously collaborated on Chantaje and Agua. Beéle will bring the Caribbean and contemporary sound associated with his recent work with Shakira on Algo tú.

The programme may also include Hips Don't Lie. Spotify recently gave the song its 20th anniversary treatment.

Dani Martín will complete the announced guest list. He led El Canto del Loco before continuing as a solo artist. Earlier Madrid shows also featured Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, Manuel Turizo and Dua Lipa, as recorded in this earlier concert report.

Sagliocco has promised more surprises in the coming days. He has also ruled out some artists who already appeared at Macondo Park.

The final event is expected to pay tribute to Federico García Lorca on the 90th anniversary of his death. Flamenco performers including Lagartija Nick, Kiki Morente and Israel Fernández are scheduled for the second stage. A film inspired by Lorca will also be screened, although its title has not been specified.

The residency is adding guests. The family arrangements remain before the courts.

Shakira's request is built around the disruption caused by short journeys for Milan and Sasha. It does not seek to limit their relationship with Piqué. The Barcelona hearing is therefore about travel logistics and parental responsibility, not simply access.

Until the court rules, the proposal remains just that. The concert announcements do not change the unresolved family matter.
