A man was shot in the leg after a confrontation between two groups in Salt, Girona. The incident began inside an apartment and spilled onto the street. Police are searching for the suspects and investigating possible motives.

A violent confrontation in Salt (Girona) on Saturday evening ended with a man hospitalized after being shot in the leg. The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. on Calle Moreneta, when three men entered an apartment where another group was present. According to police sources, a dispute broke out inside the flat, escalating rapidly and forcing the residents to flee into the street.

As the altercation spilled outside, one of the assailants fired at a fleeing man, striking him in the lower leg. The attackers then escaped the scene in a car. Emergency medical services responded quickly, transporting the injured man to Hospital Josep Trueta in Girona. Despite initial concerns about the severity of his wound, he was treated and discharged the same night, as confirmed by hospital staff.

The Mossos d’Esquadra’s Unidad de Seguridad Ciudadana (USC) were first on the scene and immediately notified the División de Investigación Criminal (DIC) of Girona, which has since taken over the investigation. Officers are working to identify the perpetrators and clarify the sequence of events inside the apartment. At this stage, the exact relationship between the two groups remains unclear, and police are not ruling out the possibility that the motive involved theft of valuables from the property.

Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and reviewing security camera footage from the area in hopes of shedding light on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. While the case is being treated as a violent robbery, authorities acknowledge that other motives may have played a role in the dispute.

Salt, located in the comarca of Gironès, has seen a number of high-profile incidents in recent years, prompting increased attention from law enforcement. The Mossos d’Esquadra regularly coordinate with local authorities to address public safety concerns in the area. In Spain, violent crimes involving firearms remain relatively rare compared to other European countries, but incidents like this highlight ongoing challenges in certain urban neighborhoods. The investigation in Salt continues, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
