Sixteen people needed medical attention after a fire broke out at around 4:30 a.m. in a residential building on Vicente Alexandre street in Silla, Valencia. Several residents were reported trapped on the third floor of the eight-storey block. Those affected included two children and a person over 70.
The Provincial Fire Consortium of Valencia sent six units from the Catarroja, Paterna, Torrent and Silla stations, coordinated by a sergeant from Torrent. Medical resources at the scene included two SAMU units, a Basic Life Support vehicle, a Non-Assisted Transport unit and primary-care teams. Seven men and nine women received help for smoke inhalation or anxiety symptoms. Two firefighters were also among those treated.
Two men, aged 52 and 69, were taken to Hospital La Fe in Valencia for smoke inhalation. Crews brought the fire under control by 8:00 a.m., about three and a half hours after the emergency call. Firefighters and medical teams worked at the scene while residents received assistance.
A separate fire emergency in León involved evacuations and hospitalizations. The case in León concerned a wildfire and required impressive emergency resources. It was distinct from the apartment fire in Silla.
The Silla incident involved residents of an eight-storey building, including children and an older adult.
