The Spain Classic Raid reaches Soria on 21 October in its largest edition yet. The cars head for Logroño the next morning as the eight-day route passes 2,000 kilometres.

After leaving Palencia, the crews are due to reach Soria on 21 October. They will set off for Logroño the next morning.

The 12th Spain Classic Raid runs from 17 to 24 October 2026, with 170 teams taking part. León Noticias describes it as Europe’s longest event of its kind. Soria is the sixth stop on the eight-stage route.

The rally starts at Gijón Aquarium and finishes in Zaragoza. Its route covers more than 2,000 kilometres across 14 provinces and five autonomous communities.

Before the start, technical checks are scheduled for the afternoon of 16 October, then from 08:00 to 09:30 on 17 October. The cars are due to leave Gijón at 10:00. The first stage ends in León, where competitors are expected between 16:30 and 18:30 on 17 October. They will spend the night there.

This is a regularity rally, not a race to the finish.

Organisers describe it as a test of navigation and precise driving. Crews must also endure long days on the road. Set average speeds stay below 50 km/h, so consistency matters more than arriving first. Dust and mud will challenge the cars; stones along the route add another test of mechanical durability.

Eligible cars must have been built before 31 December 1999. The entry list covers 25 marques. It includes a 1956 Jeep Willys Pick-up. Mercedes-Benz models are also entered, along with numerous Fiat Panda cars and other mass-market vehicles that have become classics.

The route passes cultural and historic sites along the way. These include the walls of Ávila and Palencia Cathedral. Competitors will also travel along the Camino de Santiago. Sad Hill Cemetery is another landmark on the route. The cars are due to pass through Bardenas Reales, then reach the citadel of Jaca.

Escudería Etcétera organises the event, adapting the adventure format of European raids in Morocco to Spanish roads and tracks. RUSSPAIN has separately covered Madrid’s car restrictions; this rally takes classic vehicles onto dirt roads instead of conventional routes.

Participants can enter a single stage or take on the full route. Accommodation is available at different levels, and mechanical assistance is provided during the event. Medical assistance is also available. After reaching Soria on 21 October, the cars leave for Logroño on 22 October. The route continues towards Zaragoza, where the rally finishes on 24 October.
