In Gibraleón, a small town in the province of Huelva, a man who was injured during the recent tornado has tragically lost his battle for life. The storm that hit the region on Wednesday left a trail of destruction and caused numerous incidents, but this case turned out to be the most serious.

The victim, a man of about 53, was caught under the wreckage of a metal tent structure that was ripped away by strong winds on Juan XXIII street. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene within minutes and found that the man had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. Despite doctors’ efforts, his condition remained extremely grave. After resuscitation, he was taken to Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital in Huelva, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Doctors fought for his life throughout the day, but unfortunately, they could not save him — he passed away in the early hours of Friday. A forensic examination is currently underway, after which the body will be transferred to the city morgue.

Storm aftermath in the region

This tragic incident was the only fatality resulting from the powerful storm that swept across the provinces of Huelva and Sevilla the previous day. Authorities were forced to declare a red weather alert for both coastal and inland areas, including Condado and Andévalo. Within a few hours, emergency services received more than 1,300 calls, most of them coming from Sevilla.

The storm damaged infrastructure, cars, power lines, and house roofs. Some areas experienced localized flooding and falling trees. In Carmona (Sevilla), another person was injured, but their life is not in danger.

Local Response and Aftermath

Residents of Gibraleón and other affected cities are still dealing with the aftermath of the storm. Many streets remain blocked by debris, and utility crews are working overtime. Authorities urge people to stay cautious and follow weather updates, as Andalusia's storm season continues.

The tragedy in Gibraleón is a reminder of how unpredictable nature can be and the importance of following safety measures during extreme weather events.
