Eight-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling from Window of Juvenile Center in Galicia. In Fisterra, an eight-year-old boy died after falling 15 meters from the window of a juvenile center. All emergency services responded at the scene. The Civil Guard is investigating the causes of the tragedy.

On Monday afternoon, a tragedy occurred in the municipality of Fisterra (A Coruña): an eight-year-old boy died after falling from the window of the Nosa Señora do Carme juvenile center. The incident took place around 5 p.m., when the child fell from a height of about 15 meters. The center is located near A Ribeira beach, drawing the attention of locals and tourists.

The emergency signal was received by 112 Galicia, after which all regional emergency services were dispatched to the scene. The operation involved the Civil Guard, local police, Protección Civil staff, and a 061 medical team. An emergency medical helicopter from Santiago was also deployed for evacuation, but the boy's life could not be saved.

Psychological support was provided by the Grupo de Intervención Psicológica en Catástrofes y Emergencias (Gipce) to help center staff and witnesses cope with the shock. The Civil Guard is currently investigating to determine the circumstances and causes of the child's fall. No official versions have been released yet, but all possible scenarios are being considered.

The issue of children's safety in institutions and public spaces is regularly covered in the Spanish media. In similar cases, as noted in the report about the rescue of people on Oliva beach, emergency services act as quickly as possible, but tragedies cannot always be prevented — more on this can be found in the publication about an error by emergency services on Oliva beach.

The Nosa Señora do Carme Center continues to operate as usual, but following the incident, the institution has strengthened its control and support measures. Regional authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to safety standards and promise to keep the public informed about the progress of the investigation.
