Police in Palma arrested two young men after seven cars were allegedly forced open on Sant Rafael Street. A caller alerted the 092; officers say they caught the pair beside a damaged car, carrying tools, and recovered property.
The arrests followed a 092 call reporting two people forcing open parked cars on Sant Rafael Street in Son Gotleu during the early hours of 21 October 2026. A patrol from the Policía Local’s Unidad de Intervención Inmediata (UII) arrived at about 1 a.m. Officers later identified seven vehicles forced open between numbers 124 and 164, all showing a similar method of entry.
Officers found one suspect inside a car, working on the dashboard, while the other allegedly kept watch from the street. The pair tried to flee when they spotted the patrol, but officers intercepted them near number 164.
The car where one suspect was found had a broken front-right triangular window. Police said they found several drill bits, which can fracture glass with little noise, along with bent scissors allegedly suited to levering. Officers also recovered abandoned items, including boots and an emergency LED light. They found a vehicle cover as well.
One suspect, a 26-year-old Spanish man, reportedly had numerous previous records for similar offences involving property damage and forced-entry theft. The other, also Spanish, is 25. Both were arrested as alleged perpetrators of robbery with force. They were taken to the Sant Ferran police facilities, where the Policía Local prepared the initial proceedings before handing the men and the documentation to the Policía Nacional. They were later placed at the disposal of judicial authorities.
