A car overturned on the GC-501 in Gran Canaria on Sunday afternoon, 23 August 2026, injuring a 73-year-old man and a 9-year-old boy. The vehicle was travelling toward Castillo del Romeral, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Both occupants sustained moderate injuries.
The Centro Coordinador de Emergencias y Seguridad (Cecoes) 112 received the alert at 14:01. The alert prompted a response from emergency crews, with police also dispatched. Firefighters had to extricate one occupant trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Medical personnel from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) treated both victims at the scene. The man and the child suffered multiple contusions and moderate trauma. The 73-year-old was taken to Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria, while the 9-year-old was taken to Hospital Universitario Materno Infantil de Canarias for specialized pediatric care.
